THE FARM

The Swan River Sanctuary lies at the heart of “Riversdale Farm” – an 850 acre regenerative cattle farm nestled amongst the stunning East Coast wine growing region of Tasmania.

Since taking over custodianship of the land in 2019, the owner, a seventh generation Tasmanian, has been and will continue to transform Riversdale Farm into an environmentally conscious oasis – a lifelong project.

Riversdale, as the name suggests, is a place of rivers. There are 3 rivers that the property joins, The Swan, The Wye and Bluemans Creek. It’s at the river where farming and luxury lodgings meet at the Swan River Sanctuary.

Regenerative Farming

Using a regenerative farming model, the owner takes a conservation and rehabilitation approach to food and farming systems. Like the great plains of Africa, herd animals working for the land, not against it. Tracts of land throughout the property are for only native species and bird life to thrive.

Our Commitment To The Environment

…is best expressed by the Sanctuary’s interaction with its local natural and cultural surroundings. A dynamic environmental management plan featuring continually evolving technologies steers our operations both in the lodge and on the farm and gives our guests great insight into how sustainable tourism and farming can work together.
